Partners in building better futures
PUT YOUR FAITH INTO ACTION
...serve the Lord with all your heart.
- 1 Samuel 12:19-21
Thrivent is a mission-driven, membership-owned insurance and financial services organization that helps Christians be wise with money and live generously. Thrivent provides opportunities for its members to give back where they live, work and worship, and Thrivent’s partnership with Habitat for Humanity is one example of this.
Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Faith Builds bring local churches together to raise roofs, walls, funds and prayers to build a house in partnership with a family in our community. Churches are invited to participate in Faith Builds through prayer, volunteerism, and financial support.
Thrivent and Habitat for Humanity help families in need of a safe and decent place to call home. Together
with our communities—who put God’s love into action by pooling their power and passion—our partnership
helps volunteers give and receive on their journey to a more content, confident and fulfilling life.
Since our partnership began in 2005, the impact has continued to grow:
Thrivent and their members have committed $252 million to build or repair more than 5,400 homes in the
U.S. (Thrivent funds up to 50% of each home, and Thrivent volunteers are encouraged to raise additional
funds to support Habitat offices).
Thrivent volunteers will complete more than 1,300 home building trips in the U.S. and around the world
to help build even more homes.
More than 756,000 volunteers have helped build and repair homes.
Thrivent and their members have donated 5.5 million volunteer hours. That’s equal to 636 years of
continuous volunteer work!
The Process is Easy. The work is a labor of love.
How your church benefits
A Faith Build gives your church members a concrete way to put their faith into action and see tangible results.
But that’s just the beginning. It also:
Builds community within your church.
Empowers church members to serve in the community.
Gives people of faith an opportunity to engage in construction and non-construction activities.
Helps build community among churches.
Choose how to serve
There are many ways for church members to get involved in a Faith Build on and off the construction site:
Organize on-site volunteer days for your church members.
Make a financial contribution.
Organize a fundraising activity.
Provide lunch for on-site workers.
Create a welcome basket or other special items for the family.
Participate at ground-breaking and dedication events.
Form a prayer group.
Let's do this together!
Together, we can help a family begin a journey to strength, stability and independence through affordable home ownership.

Are you a Thrivent Financial Member?
Thrivent Choice Dollars®
Use your voice to make a meaningful choice! Thrivent members have input into where some of Thrivent’s philanthropic dollars go through the Thrivent Choice program. Since 2010, members have used this program to direct $300 million to churches and nonprofits nationwide.
Members can help direct Choice Dollars® in two ways: specifically assigning them or by participating in voting events. Members who have Thrivent life insurance, health insurance, annuities, or who hold a Thrivent Financial volunteer leadership position receive Choice Dollars® to be assigned to things they support — like Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity! It doesn’t cost members anything extra, so you can increase your impact easily for your favorite cause! You can direct Choice Dollars to as many participating organizations as you'd like, but you may not direct less than five Choice Dollars to an organization. To see how many Choice Dollars® you can assign, login to your MyThrivent account or call 800-THRIVENT (800-847-4836) and say “Thrivent Choice” when prompted.
Thrivent Action Teams
Another easy way to help Habitat build up our community is by forming a Thrivent Action Team. Action Teams receive $250 grants to bring Thrivent’s mission to life by doing projects that benefit our community. Projects can include things like organizing a day of volunteering on a Habitat home or fundraisers that raise awareness and funds for our mission.
Every Thrivent member is eligible to lead two Action Teams per calendar year. To organize an Action Team, apply online today! Lead your volunteer team in a one-time fundraiser, service activity or educational event that can be completed within 90 days. Once your project is approved, you'll receive a Thrivent Action Kit, including promotional banner, invitations and thank-you cards, Thrivent Action Team T-shirts, and a $250 Community Impact Card you can use as seed money to purchase project supplies and create promotional materials.
