Laub & Pixar

"I decided to run for Mr. Habitat because I thought my sidekick (actually she is the super hero, I'm the sidekick), Pixar, my golden retriever and I, could raise a lot of awareness and money to support Habitat. Pixar has been volunteering since she was 8 weeks old. She goes to visit folks at Good Samaritan Village every week and helps at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. She has a way of calmly attracting attention and making people feel better about themselves. Pixar has always lived in stable housing, despite sharing her home with a naughty kitten who tries to boss all of us around! Pixar and I are excited to help others with the same sense of security (without a bossy kitten named Jaq) with a comfortable and affordable home!" - Janel Laub

Why I Support GIAHFH

"I choose to support Habitat for Humanity, because it is such an efficient and effective resource for our community. Our homebuyers are the most grateful people who continually give back to our community. Stability in housing is so important to all of us, but especially to children. As an early childhood educator, I have seen the benefits of children being in the kind of safe and secure housing that we help families of all kinds to achieve. Habitat homebuyers are contributing not only to their own families, but to our community, by ensuring safe housing, as well as increasing property values. I love being a small part of this process by serving on the Board, leading the Faith Relations committee, volunteering, and now being a part of the Mr. Habitat contest!"
