Our office is open to the public with regular business hours of Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We do ask that those who come in, call when at the door and wear a mask.

We will be working on the construction site on Saturdays again but limiting the group size. We will be taking precautions on the construction site to help ensure our volunteers are working safely. If you or your group is interested in volunteering, please call the office at 308-385-5510 to see what days are available.

Our Habitat for Humanity ReStore is also open to the public. We will be limiting the number of shoppers in the store at one time. For the safety of our customers and staff, we ask that only one person per family shop in the store and that everyone wears a mask. Our restrooms will be closed to the public.

We greatly appreciate your support and understanding during this unusual and difficult time.

About Grand Island Area Habitat

Our Mission: Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical ministry seeking to help low-income households into better housing environments through new home construction. Our aim is to create an environment of hope, dignity and a truly human existence for all people.

A Habitat home is a strong foundation for a family, an opportunity on which they can build a better life. Strong and stable homes help build strong and stable communities.

A Habitat home is a stabilizing force for a family. Better, affordable living conditions lead to improved health, stronger childhood development and the ability — and financial flexibility — to make forward-looking choices.

Through shelter, we empower. A decent place to live and an affordable mortgage help homeowners save more, invest in education, pursue opportunity and have more financial stability.

Your financial support, your time, and your voice will help bring independence to families in need of a decent place to live.

Mr. Habitat 2020

Celebrating 10 Years

Congratulations, Josh Aitken,

Mr. Habitat 2020!

Josh took the crown this year by raising over $14,700. Many thanks to Josh and our other contestants, Grady Erickson, Travis Mittan, Ryan O'Neill, and Gene Ulmer, for another fantastic year. Together, these contestants raised a record-breaking $58,000, all of which will be used for the development of future homes.

Thank you to our event sponsor, Island Indoor Climate, and to all our donors, volunteers, and supporters. We would also like to thank Peace Lutheran Church for letting us hold this year's event in their beautiful space. We look forward to seeing what next year's competition will bring!

June 3-7, 2019

We were excited to be partnering with local companies to build one house in one week. This year's Home Builders Blitz was even more exciting because we were building House 100 and the first house in our new Capital Avenue Development.
